How the System Works
The wastewater collection system uses gravity collection lines to transport wastewater from homes and businesses to our treatment facilities. Gravity allows wastewater to flow naturally downhill through a network of underground pipes.
Where gravity flow isn't possible due to terrain, pumping stations lift the wastewater and move it through force mains to the next gravity segment or directly to treatment plants.
Pre-treatment
BPUB's Pre-treatment Program administers regulations for industrial and commercial wastewater discharge to protect collection systems, treatment facilities, workers, and the environment.
