- Three Platinum Hermes Creative Awards (July 24, 2026) - The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals awarded BPUB's Communications and Marketing Division the competition's highest honor three times over — for its social media strategy, its corporate brand refresh, and the Big Public Utilities Bash. The international competition drew more than 6,000 entries from the United States, Canada and 29 other countries
- Diamond-Level Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3)® Designation, Perfect Score (April 1, 2026) - American Public Power Association recognized BPUB for reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. BPUB's fourth diamond-level designation, and the first earned with a perfect score; the designation runs three years
- APPA Award of Merit for Video Communications Campaign (November 13, 2025) - American Public Power Association recognized BPUB for its "Energy Conservation: It Starts With You!" video campaign in the Video Category
- GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (November 12, 2025) - Government Finance Officers Association honored BPUB for its annual comprehensive financial report for fiscal year ended September 30, 2024 (19th consecutive year)

Leadership Recognition

- TPPA President-Elect, FY 2026-27 (July 27, 2026) - General Manager and CEO Marilyn D. Gilbert was elected president-elect of the Texas Public Power Association Executive Committee, which represents 72 municipally owned electric utilities across the state
- ERCOT Wholesale Market Subcommittee (December 3, 2025) - Cory Carswell, Director of Power Supply and Market Operations, was elected to represent municipally owned utilities on the subcommittee that shapes wholesale electricity market rules for the ERCOT region
- Amelia Earhart STEM Woman of the Year (April 2, 2024) - The Zonta Club of Brownsville honored General Manager and CEO Marilyn D. Gilbert for her contributions in science, technology, engineering and math
